This program is designed to provide participants with tips and strategies regarding NLRA, ACA, FLSA compliance and more.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the close of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Train employees and managers to reduce liability
  • Understand and explain new policy trends (Affordable Care Act, National Labor Relations Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, social media, iPad communications, owner of Linked-In account contacts)
  • Identify strategies to draft and enforce appropriate written handbook policies.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: 

 

James Reid is an employment/corporate attorney with almost 10 years of experience representing employers and employees in various legal matters. As employment is his primary practice area, he is able to devote the majority of his time to employment law issues. He works mainly with employers on a wide spectrum of issues including counseling and training human resources personnel. James also develops and improves employment policies and contracts, handbooks, employment agreements, non-competes, non-disclosure agreements, and unconditional releases and separation agreements.

Furthermore, when the need arises, James represents employers in administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Michigan Department of Civil Rights and the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency.

Education: Michigan State University, B.A., with honors, 2002; Wayne State University, J.D., with honors, 2005.
