Investigating Employee Misconduct

DESCRIPTION:

Human resource professionals often are called upon to oversee or conduct investigations into employee misconduct. The webinar will provide practical advice on that process.

 

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Webinar participants will receive practical advice on conducting investigations, including:

  • Getting started;
  • Planning the investigation;
  • Conducting interviews;
  • Preparing a report; and
  • Appropriate follow-up.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

 

Karen Piper is a member of Bodman PLC who specializes in employment law and litigation. Ms. Piper has represented and counseled employers, only, including many financial institutions and nonprofit organizations, for over 35 years. She advises employers on all types of workplace issues, ranging from pre-employment screening, interviewing, selection and hiring; to performance evaluation, discipline and discharge; including accommodating employees with disabilities and FMLA issues; discrimination, sexual and other forms of unlawful harassment and retaliation; wage and hour, overtime and payroll issues; conducting investigations; creation and administration of employment policies and handbooks; and affirmative action plans. She has presented many seminars and webinars and authored numerous articles on employment law topics for Detroit SHRM. Ms. Piper is a former Secretary of the Detroit SHRM and current Chair of Detroit SHRM’s Legal Affairs Committee.
