This presentation will:

-Explain the difference between diversity, inclusion and affirmative action -- key elements of a corporate diversity initiative

- Discuss how to manage risk in navigating the various laws that apply to corporate diversity initiatives

Suggest effective corporate diversity initiatives

- Provide practical tips on how to assess corporate diversity initiatives

 

Tiffany Buckley-Norwood is a principal with Jackson Lewis P.C., a national labor and employment law firm.  She advises employers on diversity & inclusion best practices and compliance with the affirmative action requirements for federal contractors, partners with companies on disability and leave management, counsels HR professionals and business leaders on employee discipline and discharge, conducts internal investigations, drafts employee handbooks and agreements, and conducts liability prevention training at employer worksites.  She also represents employers in lawsuits and administrative proceedings regarding FMLA leave and religious/disability accommodation, in addition to claims based on employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.  Ms. Buckley-Norwood is a frequent author and presenter.  Her speaking engagements include presentations at the Michigan Women’s Business Conference & Expo and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s Annual Labor and Employment Law Institute, in addition to presentations for the American Society of Employers, State Bar of Michigan Labor & Employment Law Section, and Michigan Defense Trial Counsel.  In her spare time, she volunteers as a pro bono attorney, in addition to other civic activities.  In recognition of her accomplishments, Ms. Buckley-Norwood had been repeatedly ranked as a Michigan Super Lawyer and was recognized as an Up & Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2015.
