"Gaining Credibility & Influence with the C-Suite"

For decades, HR has perpetuated the reputation as the overhead transactional department. Lacking credibility, it still struggles to gain a seat at the table. The 21st century requires HR leaders with the competency to align the HR strategy with the business in a measurable, actionable and compelling value proposition. Shifting the mindset of C-suite leaders on the value of HR is critical as many organizations search to find why we should be at the table.

In this engaging, interactive and transformational session, participants will go through a paradigm shift from transactional to transformational leadership by learning how to:

  • Think strategically like a CEO and business owner;
  • Build influence by moving from transactional to transformational leadership;
  • Deliver the HR value proposition in "C-suite" language;
  • Translate the HR strategy into "real" actionable terms; and
  • Self-promote and build a compelling/credible HR brand.

This session is designed to leave participants with a strategic action plan with practical steps to start immediately thinking, acting and sustaining credibility and influence with C-suite leaders.

ADVANCE QUESTIONS: DSHRM is ringing in the new year with some changes to how our members interact with our speakers in order to help further enhance the learning experience for all. It is normal practice for all DSHRM HR Learns to end with a Q&A session. This year, we want to optimize that time by having the right questions at the right time. Beginning with this HR Learn, the Marketing Committee will be fielding member-submitted questions in advance for our speaker. All attending guests can submit questions to:, and the best questions will be asked live at the event! Please keep the following topics in mind when submitting your question:

  • Build influence by moving from transactional to transformational leadership
  • Deliver HR value proposition in “C-suite” language
  • Translate HR strategy into “real” actionable terms

We hope that by submitting questions up front we can maximize the time Ms. Giangrande has, by answering questions that will serve a purpose for all attendees. Please have your questions submitted no later than Monday, January 22nd.
