Disability Awareness & Inclusion for the OD/HR Professional
Facilitators: Sarah George & Emily McElmurry

This interactive session offers insight and a renewed appreciation of diversity, as it relates to disability. It provides groups with an opportunity to collectively and individually reflect upon their own relationships with disability; increase their knowledge and understanding of the practical, social and vocational aspects of disability, and challenge assumptions about people with disabilities.

Sarah George is the Senior Human Services Training Expert at Peckham. She has worked at Peckham since 1999 in a variety of roles providing training, management and direct service to people with disabilities. She has presented about disability and diversity at a variety of state and national conferences and is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. She holds a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University.

Emily McElmurry is the Career Planning and Consultation Manager at Peckham.  In this role she supports programs specifically designed to help people with disabilities gain exposure to the world of work, as well as, find and maintain employment.  She works with a variety of community partners such as Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Local School Districts, Local Employers and the Department of Veterans Affairs to create and enhance services for mutual clients. Emily holds a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University.

*You are welcome to come early to purchase a lunch in the Peckham cafeteria (cash only) if you’d like and then bring your lunch to the meeting room on the 2nd floor.
