During her tenure, she transitioned from production supervisor to HR, managing workers’ compensation, salaried personnel and labor relations. After a long career at GM, Brewer moved to Fremont, Calif., to become HR manager at automotive manufacturer NUMMI where she was selected to participate in Toyota Production System training, and then returned to GM to teach lean manufacturing principles to hourly and salaried leaders.
