Join Detroit SHRM - Individual Membership

Membership in Detroit SHRM is granted in one of the following classifications. Please apply for membership at the appropriate level by clicking on the type of membership below. Check out the benefits of Detroit SHRM Membership by

Professional Member

An individual who meets at least one of the qualifications below and will be granted full membership privileges and voting rights:
  1. A human resources practitioner either employed or in transition.
  2. A certified human resources professional holding a SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, GPHR, CCP, CEBS, CPT or ISPI. Other certifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Board.
  3. A faculty member teaching a human resources curriculum at an accredited college or university.
  4. An attorney or consultant whose primary business purpose is advising clients on human resources matters.

SHRM Members -
New Member Dues: $125 | Renewal Dues: $100 

Note: Your SHRM membership ID must be provided at the time of joining Detroit SHRM

Non-SHRM Members -
New Member Dues: $125 | Renewal Dues: $100

The Pay It Forward program is designed to support HR professionals whose jobs have been impacted by the economy. With this program, new members in transition can join Detroit SHRM at the cost of $50. Existing members can assist individuals who would like to join Detroit SHRM by giving a gift of $50 toward membership dues. If you are in the fortunate position to be able to "pay it forward" and help another HR professional to join, you can become involved in this program.

For new members who participate in this program by accepting sponsorship, we ask that you "pay it forward" and sponsor another person in transition once you re-enter the workforce.

If you are a current member and wish to take advantage of this offer please call the office at 248-478-6498.

New Member Rate: $50 | Renewal Rate: $100 (if still in transition at time of renewal, contact the Detroit SHRM office at 248-478-6498 for the renewing Member in Transition discounted rate of $50).

Student Member

Individuals must meet all of the following qualifications and will not have voting rights:

  1. A college or university undergraduate or graduate student (full-time or part-time) who is enrolled in at least one course that is part of a curriculum toward a degree in human resources. 
  2. Not currently employed as a human resources practitioner. 

*Student SHRM Members -
New Member Dues: Complimentary with SHRM member number and proof of enrollment | Renewal Dues: Complimentary with SHRM member number and proof of enrollment.

*Non-SHRM Student Members - 
New Student Member Dues: $25
with proof of enrollment | Renewal Rate: $25 with proof of enrollment

*After creating an online profile, students must provide proof of current enrollment for their membership to be activated.  Please submit one of the following: proof of enrollment, tuition receipt, class schedule, or document showing enrollment in the current term. Submit proof of enrollment to Detroit SHRM at info@detroitshrm.org.

Professional All-Inclusive Member 

An individual who meets at least one of the qualifications below and will be granted full membership privileges and voting rights:
  1. A human resources practitioner either employed or in transition.

  4. An attorney or consultant whose primary business purpose is advising clients on human resources matters.
     

 

This membership is active from January 1st - December 31st and will be pro-rated for those who join mid-year. Membership includes: 

12 Webinars (1 each month)
5 HR Learn Events (odd months)
1 Annual Event (November)
6 Networking Events (even months)
2 Half-Day Workshops (February and October)


Yearly Dues: $665 


Guest Account

For individuals who want to attend events and search the website as a guest. You will not receive member benefits. 

Individual Chapter membership is  not transferable from one individual to another. Membership in other SHRM affiliated chapters is not transferable to Detroit SHRM. Chapter membership is contingent on the timely payment of annual dues. Membership expires 12 months from the date of activation and is renewable yearly on/or before the member's anniversary date (except for all-inclusive membership - see above). Dual membership in SHRM-National is encouraged.
